At the same time its too early for the first for the fresh spring vegetables to be available up here in Minnesota. This is the tricky part of trying to eat more seasonally & locally. It's really made us realize how much more we need to freeze this year to get through next winter. I have a feeling once we can start hitting the farmers markets again & see that first asparagus, greens & rhubarb we'll be inspired again. Until then hopefully we can find a few dishes to keep us interested...and you too.
(The first snowdrops of spring give us some hope!)

We all go through phases of not really wanting to cook much. I really did not feel like cooking anything while I was pregnant. I'm sure you'll get your cooking mojo back soon

I'm in the same non-motivated boat, aimlessly swinging my paddle and thinking about Spring vegetables, not hearty winter fare. I did get out though, and enjoyed an amazing Spring meal at Muffeletta, which lifted my spirits. Still, I need more mojo too.
ReplyDeleteI usually go through cycles like that as well. . .I'd be happy to cook for a month, then the next two weeks nada. Sometimes, it's just a matter of having new recipes to try, sometimes not wanting to eat anything. . .The fitness thing is a challenge too, don't you think?

ReplyDeleteI've been there. Sometimes, homemade dish just doesn't sound all that great. :)
ReplyDeleteI went through that same funk a couple months ago- a month that I rarely posted. My husband and I ate a lot of sandwiches that month. And soups that I had stand by that were purees that were frozen. I didnt even feel like looking at blogs or Tastespotting. Then of course the wave came back.

Trust me, I can relate. We've been in a slump lately more for lack of time than lack of inspiration -- but it's really cramping my style.

So wild that I just read this because I know exactly what you mean. I have been feeling that way this week. I'm a little burned out and what I'm really looking forward to is grilling and fresh vegetables. But neither the grill nor produce are here yet. I'm still eating healthy, fresh stuff, it just isn't exciting enough to post about.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you know you're not alone. In fact, Elise over at www.cowgirlchef.com blogged about have a similar problem with her cooking muse. I've run into the same problem too. Last time was at the holidays, which made it tough. More frustrating for me, personally, is when my writing muse runs and hides from me. Grr...
