I had to have Swedish meatballs, potatoes & lingonberries at least once while in Sweden. These meatballs were actually made of moose and much bigger than those we usually get at home. Quite a bit tastier than IKEA too! This was at a pub called Blå Dörren, right around the corner from our hotel

How could you not? Those are absolutely fantastic looking.
ReplyDeleteOh... that made my mouth water!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever eaten moose before? Were you freaked out to try it?
ReplyDeleteAmy @ A Little Nosh
Amy - I've had elk before & they are essentially the same thing. I try not to be too freaked about trying most things. In the last year or so I've had pig ear, pig tongue (removed from the head right in front of me), head cheese, ox cheeks, chicken feet and more. Tonight I are herring 9 different ways!
ReplyDeleteIt absolutely had to be done! It looks so good and I had to laugh because IKEA is the only place I've had it. :)
ReplyDeleteMade of moose? I'd love to try that! Much prefer Swedish meatballs with their white sauce to the red sauced meatballs.
ReplyDeleteLooks divine, what is the sauce you poured over the meatballs?
ReplyDeleteNeil - Its a gravy, usually flavored with a little coffee
ReplyDeleteSuch an incredible looking meal! I love this dish. In Norway it is usually reindeer cutlets, but the sauce and berries are the same! DROOL!
