Recently, Ball sent me the Home Canning Discovery Kit which contains jars, lids & a jar lifter. Since we have a good stock of canning supplies we decided to share the kit with one of you in the hopes that someone else will discover the joys of canning. To the kit we will add a canning funnel, a magnet for handling hot lids & two jars of jam that we canned this year.
Here's how to enter...
1. Take a look through our preserving category & leave a comment telling us which canning recipe you'd like to try.
** If your email address is not on your blogger profile or available through your own blog or website, you MUST leave it in your comment so we can contact you
2. For an extra entry, Twitter about this contest & send me a comment letting me know you did.
The winner will be chosen with a random number generator on the morning of Tuesday, September 14th. Because of the cost of shipping this prize can only go to the US or Canada, sorry.
Disclaimer: Ball sent me the canning kit for free but did not reimburse me to write about it or to do a giveaway.

I picked up one of these a month ago - the instructions are so clear that it took all the fear out! I'm makin' pickles like crazy!
I really enjoy your site, Kat - keep the great eats coming!
I would love to try your corn relish recipe, I am fairly new to the Midwest and love the sweet corn here!
I really, really want to try the vanilla applesauce! PS: It's my birthday today... Does that make my chances better? ;)

I'd love to make some beautiful fig jams like you did -- the colors are terrific and would surely be a cheery sight throughout the Boston winter! I've never canned before, but am anxious to give it a try.
I'd make the mustards and the jams. I know we'd use them and they would make great gifts too.
Tweeted it from rosermtnbiker!!
I just decided this weekend that I need to take a shot at canning. The Pepper Salsa looks like a good place for me to start! jackkhcktt@gmail.com
We've had your "Oven Dried Tomatoes" recipe on our "to-do" list for weeks. Just letting the last tomatoes ripen on the vine. Thanks!!!
I want me some of that apricot blueberry basil jam. Sounds amazing.
I think the Apricot, Blueberry & Basil Jam sounds divine, and I'd love to give it a try!

I have also been intrigued, yet apprehensive about canning. This could get me started on some homemade salsa - your pepper salsa recipe sounds delicious!
My dad and I used to pick apples each fall and make homemade applesauce. I would love to try canning applesauce and testing out some of your creations.
I also tweeted...madsyjoy is my username
Clearly it's applesauce canning time! Or, it will be soon. The chai applesauce is calling to me.
OH MAN Strawberry Balsamic Jam!!! Looks so so tasty!

I'd love to make some fig jam or other California goodies for my east coast friends and family. What a great giveaway!

My top three choices are the zucchini relish, the apricot-blueberry basil jam and the spiced honey. I tried refrigerator pickles this year-my friends are telling me canning isn't as hard as I think.....hmmmmm. This would probably help me over my fears :)
i love figs...i would love to can some fig preserves!
I would LOVE to make the fig jam...I never thought I liked them until recently and I LOVE the beautiful colors...
I also really want to make the oven dried tomatos...I'm going to be scouting for romas at the market this wkend...hopefully there are still some around!
I have always wanted to learn how to can! I would love to try your fig jam recipe--I love figs :-)

I used to love canning our home-grown tomatoes when I was in grad school... even in a teeny apartment with no ac. I really miss it. My sister used to do the best pickles, too. I can't find her recipe and in one of my many moves got rid of my canning kettle. Sad....
Since I have a LOT of unripe tomatoes still on the vine... Green Tomato Jam! I've just started canning this year, and am surviving on borrowed equipment, so would love to have gear of my own. :-) Thanks!
Applesauce! We just planted two apple trees and I can't wait! Thanks :)
I'm so torn! I'd probably do the applesauce or the oven roasted tomatoes.
I would love to try the green tomato jam and the vanilla applesauce.
Definitely the Strawberry Balsamic Jam. Enjoy your blog daily !

Mmm, fig jam! It's been a while since I've made any.
I tweeted!
It's a toss-up for me. I'd love to try the Black Forest Preserves and the Spiced Honey for myself, but I know my husband would probably love the Strawberry Rhubarb Preserves.

Hot Pepper Jelly so in the middle of winter I can pour it over cream cheese, warm it up, then spread it over crackers! Yum yum yum.
A very nice giveaway. If I wond I think I would give it to one of my begginner canner friends. But I may have to keep the jam for myself. Wink!
Your apricot blueberry basil jam sounds delightful :)
thanks!

I had an abundance of tomatoes last summer than just wouldn't turn before the frost started so I made your green tomato jam and it was wonderful! I would definitely make that again!
Just perfect...I was just asking around for 'How to can'... sadly my family never taught me so I am teaching myself. Your recipes and directions/ tips will be great! I am going to try the Apricot, Blueberry & Basil Jam because my kids are huge jam and toast lovers.
I'd love to try your hot pepper jelly!

The apricot, blueberry, and basil jam, of course! Looks awesome.
And don't worry, even though I'm based in Norway, I have still have "connections" in the twin cities. Can I still be included if I give a St. Paul address?!?!

I very much want to try making pickles.

Spiced Honey, what a great idea for a Christmas gift!
Ooo - I'd like to make some mustard!
I would love to try canning your pepper jelly and pepper salsa.
Garlic scape mustard looks good - but any jams.
Oooooh! I'd make a couple of things...the ginger peach applesauce, chai applesauce (with some extra cardamom), and the hot pepper jelly.
