Peanut Turkey Burger

Oh my gosh, this was one heck of a burger!
Peanut Turkey Burger
Matt loves the Turkey Burger at the Edina Grill & it inspired him to try making his own version at home. Don't be scared by the peanut butter in it, with the other seasonings it adds a decidedly Asian flavor & a wonderful texture. I really like Matt's Sea Salt & Thyme Burger but this burger has moved to the top of the of the burger list.

We topped this burger with a garlic mayo which Matt made by mixing 2 - 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise with one minced garlic clove & a drop or two of Sriracha for color.

Peanut Turkey Burger

1 medium carrot, julienned
1 scallion, chopped
1/8 t ground ginger
1 t kosher salt
10 oz ground turkey
1 1/2 T chunky peanut butter
1/4 t sesame oil
1/2 t sriracha chili sauce

Place all the ingredients together in a bowl. Work with hands to mix but to do overwork.

Cook on a griddle (turkey burgers tend not to hold together well on a grill) until done, about 6 to 7 minutes per side.

Serve with lettuce leaves, more julienned carrots & garlic mayo.

Makes 2 burgers

In case you are wondering the fries on the side are baked sweet potato fries. Super easy & good for you.

Kat - looks great, I'll have to check this out. Love the peanut and Sriracha combo. How did you get those fries to brown up so nicely? Did you put them under the broiler for a bit?

Hungry in SW - He baked the fries for 30 minutes at 425F turning every 10 minutes. Some got a little burned though.

I would never have thought of combining turkey and peanut butter in a burger but it looks very good. My husband would like the peanut butter, but I couldn't tell him about the turkey. I'd have to pretend it was beef.

When I substitute ground turkey for beef, it always feels like a pale imitation. But adding peanut butter and ginger and chili sauce? Looks enticing and makes me reconsider my bias against ground turkey. Thanks for sharing.

Wow - I made turkey meatballs today and had I seen your post I would have tried the peanut butter for sure. I'm intrigued by the addition and Matt did a good job with the mayo.

We made these burgers last night for dinner,and they were AWESOME!! The sesame oil and peanut butter added so much flavor and moistness to the burgers-- what a fabulous idea. I made ours with 2/3 ground chicken and 1/3 ground turkey since that's what I had on hand. We all loved them. I'm not very good at julienne, and so the carrot pieces came out bigger than I'd hoped, but still quite edible. I had to laugh when I looked over at DC's plate to see the pile of carrots he had surgically excised from his burger, which he still loved.

I lover burgers and this sounds like an intersting combination. It might take some convincing to get the hubby to try it, but I bet it will be worth it!

Finally got around to making these (the kitchen is being remodeled and everything is a challenge.) They were worth the wait! Great flavor. I didn't have any sriracha sauce but Cholula worked okay. I think that the sriracha would have been a bit better.

Made these a couple of nights ago -they were wonderful! The peanut taste was prominent but not overpowering and they had a little crunch from the nuts. Yum!
